Assistant Shift Manager

SUMMARY
As an Assistant Shift Manager, you are a representative of Fiesta Village Family Fun Park and must maintain a high standard of professionalism, hospitality, and safety. To create a positive atmosphere when dealing with guests, fellow staff members, and company. As well as providing an engaging, delightful environment by creating value with excellent experience for our guests and staff, while ensuring the continued growth and success of the park. The management and leadership teamโ€™s primary role are to provide support and stability to our staff members and guests. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
  • To create positive memories for all who touch Fiesta Village. To assist the General Manager (GM) and Executive Team in executing specific aspects of the park operations, this may include financial performance, personnel, sales, and marketing. To set high standards and create a great environment for the team to work.
  • Oversee general park operations, including but not limited to outdoor and indoor attractions, staffing controls and experience.
  • Manage Shift operation of Fiesta Village during scheduled shifts. Strive for operational levels that meet or exceed the Guestโ€™s expectations in the areas of quality, service, and atmosphere, creating value through an excellent experience and a fair price. Accurately complete designated duties such as cash control.
  • Conduct Daily Opening and Closing Duties for Fiesta Village as a primary operative.
  • Manage a team shift as necessary maintaining staffing levels, guest experience, and expectations of Fiesta Village Management and ownership.
  • Gain an expanded knowledge of all Fiesta Village departments including structure and organization.
  • Maintain product levels to expected standards; rotate product (first in first out) Guest Service
  • Ensure that Guest Experience in all areas meets or exceeds company standards.
  • Establish standards for Front-Line team to manage customer concerns.
  • Ensure that customer complaints are promptly and appropriately addressed to resolve the problem and ensure that each dissatisfied customer becomes a returning guest.
  • Build relationships with return or preferred guests. Team Leadership
  • Accomplish Park objectives by assisting the GM and Executive Team with hiring, training, coaching, and developing Supervisors and crew members to build a highly skilled and productive team.
  • Assist the GM and Executive Team with thorough training and new hire orientations; clearly communicate job expectations; monitor each employee and Supervisorโ€™s performance and job contributions, provide ongoing and helpful feedback against expectations to team members.
  • Role model and enforce policies and procedures.
  • At a minimum, have a basic understanding of how to prepare hourly employee rotations to meet the staffing requirements for each day and seasonal demands, as determined by the GM. Ideally, should be able to perform this task for review and approval by the GM.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all staff to foster and promote a cooperative and pleasant working climate, which will be conducive to maximizing employee morale, productivity, and efficiency.
Skills/Competencies Needed
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts based on business levels including but not limited to Nights, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. Fiesta Village is primarily open on weekends and it is required of all Leadership and Management Team Members to be available during this time.
  • Must be trained and have experience in all front-line positions. Members of the leadership and management team are expected to fill in or cover frontline positions during peak operations.
  • Guest focus – strong hospitality and guest service skills, enjoys engaging with the customer.
  • Trainer and coachability to be a strong trainer or coach to others on routines and systems, as well as how to effectively interact with customers and each other.
  • Management skills – excellent track record of coaching and training employees and effectively resolving employee relations issues. Ability to motivate a strong team and create an upbeat environment.
  • Organization and goal focus – must be highly organized and detail-oriented with the capability to oversee many aspects of the business and multiple areas simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to actively work to achieve and exceed set goals for the business.
  • Technical proficiency with computers and with Point-of-Sale systems.
  • General knowledge of computers, cash registers, various electronic devices, and various software.
  • Organizational skills at keeping detailed records, report, and logs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability -willingness to follow directions and a commitment to meet Fiesta Village standards in all you do.
  • Integrity- the right thing even when no one is looking, honest, earns the trust of others.
  • Review and maintain applicable health standards as directed by The San Bernardino County Health Department.
  • Ability to introduce new product ideas.
  • Follow the checklist program for products.
  • Opening/Closing Reports.
  • Knowledge of amusement industry standards, as well as applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of methods of establishing appropriate controls to ensure staff integrity and quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with effective follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead Team Members to achieve organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to visually assess and evaluate safety hazards in the workplace as mandated by safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage guest and employee complaints.
  • Supervisory experience in the Guest service industry with demonstrated ability to ensure Guest satisfaction.
  • Opening and closing keyholder.
  • Have knowledge of labor costs.
  • Ability to balance personal life and work.
Must have ability to:
  • Perform under pressure in a high-volume environment including moving and responding quickly for long periods of time.
  • Work in and out of different temperature ranges.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Lift up to fifty pounds.

  • Complete the Asst. Manager Observable Behaviors Assessment as part of a 60-day probationary, performance evaluation with Executive Management
  • Learn and be cross trained in all major departments (Outdoor & indoor attendant, cashier in all buildings and janitor).
  • Have expanded knowledge of all Fiesta Village departments including structure and organization.
  • Identify and Report repairs and upgrades necessary for efficient operations for the Fiesta Village.
  • Identify Signage around Fiesta Village Facility (current pricing, product, specials, and information signage)
  • Identify publications for Fiesta Village Marketing in indoor/outdoor areas (Brochures and fliers) are always stocked.
  • Identify and report hazards and necessary repairs or upgrades to the appropriate department manager.
  • Provide exceptional Guest Experience to all our guests equally.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CPR-First Aid certified or willing to be certified within 30 days.
  • Food Handlerโ€™s certified or willing to be certified within 30 days.
  • 1+ year experience in a supervisory role (i.e., shift lead, team lead, supervisor, etc.)
  • 1+ year experience in the guest service industry with demonstrated ability to ensure guest satisfaction. LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure guidelines as well as draft required reports and complete forms.
  • Bilingual/Multilingual is a plus!
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, guests, team members, and managers of Fiesta Village Family Fun Park.
LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS
If an employee is required to drive, a Valid California Driverโ€™s License will be required and/or needs to be obtained within 30 days of employment. Employees required to drive also qualify to drive under the current Fiesta Village Vehicle Policy. Employees must read, understand, and acknowledge the Fiesta Village Vehicle Program and Policies to operate a company vehicle. Thus, employees must sign an โ€œAuthorization of Release of Driver Record Informationโ€ (INF 1101).
ENVIRONMENT
The environmental characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, individuals may be exposed to heat and hot conditions, cold, wet conditions, wet or slippery conditions, multi-level buildings, outdoor work areas, subject to hot or cold, steep stairways and ramps, walking areas can be sloped and slippery. Therefore, as a condition of employment each employee is responsible for wearing aggressive tread footwear for the severe elements that they present themselves. Slip resistant shoes are required at all times, no exceptions will be made. Any failure to comply with this may be cause for disciplinary action up to and including termination. For proper footwear and types required in your department please refer to the departmentโ€™s guidelines.
